Corrupt Save Glitch Discovered In Pokémon Sun & Moon
An unfortunate glitch has been discovered in Pokémon Sun and Moon. It appears that saving your game in certain areas can corrupt your safe file and result in the loss of your data. Your entire save file is at risk if you save your game at a Pokémon Center or the Battle Tree. Saving your game at these locations can damage your file, and make your current game unplayable. You will then have to start a new game in order to play again. These appear to be the only areas that can corrupt your file. Saving anywhere else should not yield any risks to your save data.
Needless to say, this is not the first time something like this has happened in a Pokémon game. In 2013, a similar save glitch affected Pokémon X and Y at the game’s launch. Saving at the Pokémon Centers in Lumiose City would lock the game, and prevent players from progressing any further. Nintendo quickly patched it after becoming aware of the issue.
Hopefully they will learn of this latest save glitch soon, and put out a patch for Pokémon Sun and Moon. Until they do something about it, it is highly recommended that you do not save your Sun/Moon file at a Pokémon Center or the Battle Tree.
