Don’t Starve, Octodad, and More Indie Game DLC Costumes Heading to LittleBigPlanet 3

Don't Starve LittleBigPlanet Costumes

Fan favorite indie game characters from Don’t Starve, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, and more are heading to the world of LittleBigPlanet 3 in the shape of brand new DLC costumes.

If you’ve played any of the LittleBigPlanet games you’d know that the developers for these games are dedicated to bringing the community a whole lot of DLC costumes from different forms of media. DLC costumes and level packs in LittleBigPlanet titles have varied from Marvel and DC Comics, to the Metal Gear Solid series. LittleBigPlanet being one of the few series of media where you can have Spider-Man slapping Batman while Cinderella and Garfield watch on the sidelines. With that said, a new series of indie game costumes will allow the LBP community to further expand the highly creative imagination of creators and players alike. The new indie game DLC costumes and dates can be found down below.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch LittleBigPlanet 3 DLC

Octodad: Dadliest Catch DLC Costume:

On May 15th, LittleBigPlanet 3 players will be able to purchase everyone’s favorite hard working father, Octodad (Nobody suspects a thing). Octodad: Dadliest Catch started off 2014 as a hit indie game from the developers at Young Horses. Since its release the game has been made available on several other platforms, received high praise (from us especially. Check out our review here), and has received a good amount of support from the dev team since then. Small story expansions in the form of ‘Shorts’ from the developers and Mod Support via Steam have all been loved by community, and it’s definetly an indie game that you should not miss out on.

Velocity 2X LittleBigPlanet costume

Velocity 2X DLC Costume:

Also on May 15th, the Lt. Kai Tana costume (Velocity 2X’s protagonist) will be made available as a DLC costume for LittleBigPlanet 3 players. Velocity 2X made its debut in September of last year and was highly praised for its fast paced side-scrolling action on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Soon after that the developers on the game, FuturLab, decided that they wanted to bring the game to more platforms and soon teamed up with Sierra Games to do so. Announced just recently (February), the game is planned to release on PC, Mac, Linux, and Xbox One soon. It’s a game you shouldn’t miss out on, and should be kept on your radar if you’re thinking of getting the game on an upcoming platform.

Thomas Was Alone LittleBigPlanet costumes

Thomas was Alone DLC Costume Pack:

We first revealed that this costume pack was in development and set to head to LittleBigPlanet 3 back in September of 2014, and now it looks like we have a release date. To those who want to rock some epic box costumes in LittleBigPlanet 3, you’ll be able to do so on May 20th. While these costumes may not look like much, you should take player creativity into consideration. Those who are creative will find a way to use the box shapes as a base for their costumes to then add custom made stickers and decorations to make masterpieces. Anyway, we reviewed Thomas Was Alone a while back so if you’re interested in knowing more or what we thought about the game, you can find out here.

Don't Starve LittleBigPlanet Costumes

Don’t Starve DLC Costume Pack:

Last but not least is the Don’t Starve costume pack heading to LittleBigPlanet 3 on May 27th. Probably the most creative costume pack here, the Don’t Starve DLC costume pack will have plenty of costumes from the game with a highly praised cult following. Each costume, while staying true to Don’t Starve, still manages to also feel like it belongs in LittleBigPlanet. The cardboard wigs and outfits for some of the characters, different fabrics, and stitches make the costume pack feel right at home in craftworld. Don’t Starve is an excellent survival game and one that made it on our JM Picks list of “games with high replay value” (which can be found by clicking here).

As to what the costume pack includes, the pack is as follows:

  • Wilson costume for Sackboy
  • Willow costume for Sackgirl
  • Chester costume for Oddsock
  • Spider costume for Mini-Toggle
  • Guardian Pig costume for regular Toggle

Indie game fans should not miss out on these costumes if they also have a copy of LittleBigPlanet 3. The team behind handling DLC for LittleBigPlanet 3 are doing a great job at keeping the community interested and satisfied with new content on a regular basis, and it doesn’t look like that will end anytime soon. An Isaac costume from The Binding of Isaac Rebirth would be another great indie DLC addition to the LittleBigPlanet series, as that was another game that was highly praised on the PlayStation Network. As a big fanboy of the LBP series though, I’m hoping that Sony announces more details on LBPHub at E3 2015, as there haven’t been many details about this mysterious title since its announcement back in August of 2013. We’ll see in due time, but be sure to stay tuned to Junkie Monkeys for more on the LittleBigPlanet series and gaming news as information comes up.
