The Metroid franchise is no longer being neglected. Nintendo announced at this year’s E3 convention that a few Metroid games will be coming out soon.

It’s been a few years since Nintendo released a mainline Metroid game, and fans of the series have gotten anxious. Nintendo finally ended our long wait, as the company announced the release of two new Metroid games at E3, much to everyone’s surprise.

A fourth installment of the acclaimed Metroid Prime series was announced for the Switch. It’s still hard to believe that it has been a decade since the release of Prime 3. Nintendo has not announced a release date for Prime 4 yet, but it appears that the game will launch sometime in 2018.

The other game announced was a remake of Metroid II. The remake of the 1991 classic will be titled Metroid: Samus Returns, and will launch for the 3DS in September.
