Never Before Seen Clip from ‘The Boondocks’ Pilot Released

The Boondocks Pilot

We absolutely love The Boondocks (with the exception of season 4) and we hope that Aaron McGruder and Co. will one day come back to do another season. While season 4 of The Boondocks is currently the last and final season (season 3 was supposed to be the final season as well), we are currently left in the dark about the series’ animated future. It’s a harsh reality we must face, but don’t fret! Our pal Carl Jones has a very special Boondocks treat just for you!

Before The Boondocks landed on Adult Swim, Fox was initially interested in the series. The original pilot for The Boondocks never aired and Fox wound up rejecting the series.

To date, the original pilot for The Boondocks still hasn’t aired, but thanks to Carl Jones, we can at least get a glimpse at the first true episode of The Boondocks!

Check it out below!

Watching this clip is like stepping into a time machine! The Boondocks is well over a decade old and it’s nice to see that not much from the pilot was missing in the actual series.

One thing I would like to point out are the mild differences in character design. It looks like Aaron McGruder originally wanted the characters to somewhat mirror their comic versions. I really like the original character design for the show; it makes the characters feel like they came right off the comic strip.

We can only hope that one day Adult Swim will air the full pilot for fans. We will also have another interview with Carl Jones coming up very soon and we’ll be sure to ask him more about the original pilot.
