The rumors were circulating about this one for awhile, and Nintendo made the official announcement today.

Based off of the incredible success that the NES Classic had last year, many were speculating that Nintendo was going to release a “classic edition” of its next system, the Super Nintendo. The company made the official announcement today, telling us that the SNES Classic is in development.

21 Super Nintendo games will be built into this system, including Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country, F-Zero, Earthbound, Super Metroid, and The Legend of Zelda; A Link To The Past. The previously unreleased Star Fox 2 will also be installed on the system.  The SNES classic will be released on September 29, and will cost $80.
