BlizzCon 2016 is finally here and with it has come the Overwatch Sombra character reveal through an animated short, new game mode information, and new map details!

Overwatch Animated Short | “Infiltration”

Fans have been waiting over 2 months for a Sombra reveal and in that time gamers have gone through multiple character lore ARG’s, character leaks, and more. As many assumed, Blizzard did end up pulling the predictable card at BlizzCon 2016 by having Sombra hack the opening ceremony, but they did so in style with the animated short. In the short we get a better look at a Talon mission in action, a behind the scenes look at Volskaya, and a double agent look at Sombra.

Along with the animated short, Blizzard’s also shown off an Origin Story video for Sombra as well. Check it out!

Console players won’t be able to try out Sombra in-game for a good while but it’s been said by Blizzard that PC players will have access to the character next week (more than likely on Tuesday since that’s when updates happen) through the PTR. For the time being you can check out what kind of damage Sombra can dish out in Overwatch. Just recently, her character profile was updated on the PlayOverwatch website! As assumed by a good amount of the community, yes, she will be an offense character in the game.

How Sombra will affect the new competitive meta of the game will have to be seen, seeing as characters are getting buffed and nerfed left and right. Regardless of a set meta, whether it be a three tank meta, two of each class of what have you, a set team composition isn’t something that’s ever set in stone. Seeing as Overwatch has a heavy emphasis on constant hero switching in game. This all being said, character metas change often, and even then hero picking all comes down to player skill (cue the high level play Symmetra mains). Currently though, it looks like Sombra will be a mighty force to be reckoned with.

Continuing on with news coming from BlizzCon 2016, it’s been said that Overwatch fans will be getting a new Arcade mode! In the arcade mode will be new game modes, game mode specific maps, and plenty of options for gamers to choose from. In arcade mode, gamers will be able to play 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3 battles on exclusive maps. One of these exclusive maps will include Eco Point, Antarctica. It’s the same map where Mei was cryogenically frozen according to Blizzard, so that should be very interesting!

As a new map not exclusive to arcade, Oasis is the name of the map that will be coming to the game very soon. Oasis is a high tech city in the Arabian desert accorirding to Blizzard. Besides all of that information, the Overwatch team will be having an Overwatch Panel later on today, so we’ll be sure to keep you updated on that.
