It’s so hard to believe anything you see on the internet unless there is an official confirmation, or cold hard evidence. Thankfully for the case of Rocko’s comeback we have the latter!

Over one month ago we reported that Carl Jones, executive producer for The Boondocks, hinted at the existence of a Rocko’s Modern Life reboot.

In that very same report we added updated information from Carlos Alazraqui (voice of Rocko) confirming that Rocko’s Modern Life news is pending.

While there hasn’t been any official confirmation from Nickelodeon yet, some more hard evidence of a RML reboot has surfaced once again.

The Animation Guild is a website that represents various animation artists, writers, and technicians. From time to time job postings from a multitude of animation studios will appear on their site. One “accidental” recent posting from Nickelodeon reveals that a Rocko’s Modern Life comeback is definitely real and production will begin soon!

While the original storyboard artist job listing for Rocko’s Modern Life was removed by Nickelodeon, The Animation Guild still has details about the gig on the job openings section of their site.

While the job post mostly details responsibilities and basic qualifications for the storyboard artist, the summary of the job brings to light some interesting things about the Rocko’s Modern Life comeback.

Nickelodeon Animation Studio is seeking an experienced storyboard artist for its new TV movie, Rocko’s Modern Life. This person must be able to board in the style of the show. The position will start in mid-June and will run for approximately 9 weeks.

Several takeaways from the summary are the following.

  • Production on the new Rocko’s Modern Life project will begin next month.

  • Rocko’s Modern Life may not come back as a series, but as a TV Movie instead (Nickelodeon is already bringing Hey Arnold back in a similar fashion).

  • The story board artist hired must be able to replicate the original style of the show.

That last tidbit is what gets me really excited! I don’t know what master plan Nickelodeon is cooking up over there, but it seems like they are really trying not to screw over fans with this RML revival. So far it appears that Joe Murray will be involved in the project and even the original voice actors are excited about the opportunity to come back to this project!

That’s all we can find for now. We will be sure to update you again on this project once more details begin to surface!
