Your Favorite 90s NickToons are Coming Back to Theaters

NickToons Movie 2016

Back in September of last year we reported on a very strong rumor coming from Nickelodeon’s camp. The rumor suggested that Paramount is currently developing a live-action animated feature film based off of all of the 90s Nickelodeon cartoons we know and love. I’m pleased to announce that these rumors are in fact true!

Put your nostalgia caps back on folks, because you’re about to get another blast from the past!

Movie details still appear to be exactly the same from when the project was first rumored. People can expect to see characters from Rugrats, Aaahh! Real Monsters, The Angry Beavers, The Ren & Stimpy Show, and Rocko’s Modern Life, team up on the big screen in one glorious fill of nostalgic juice.

A few sources have mentioned that characters from Doug were set to appear in the film as well, but the original source DOES NOT state this. While I would be ecstatic to see the likes of Porkchop, Skeeter, Doug, and the rest of the gang return; these appearances will more than likely not happen. Unless Viacom worked out some special deal with Disney to get Doug back to Nickelodeon, I would not get your hopes up.

There are quite a few new updates regarding the film. Napoleon Dynamite director, Jared Hess, is set to direct NickToons. It has also been confirmed that Jared Hess will also co-write the film along with his wife Jerusha Hess.

Early talk for the film has stated that Paramount is going to make the film live action, but not with 3D animation. The film will more than likely take the traditional 2D animation approach as the upcoming film is being compared to Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

This is some pretty awesome news and we hope that the Hess duo does not fuck this golden opportunity up! This could be one of the greatest 90s flashback moments if this film is done correctly!
